I thought this book started out a bit slow, but gradually got better and more thrilling with each chapter. It was a little confusing, but still a great read. I really enjoyed how it introduced the characters with having a mysterious side that you slowly learned about as you read.

In this remake of Peter Pan, the only way to grow up is to survive. All the characters are still here but never as you've seen them before as they venture to bring down Hook and stop a world wide virus. I recommend this book to fantasy readers!

Titans
Scholastic 2016

This is now one of my FAVORITE books! This story is based on horse racing taken to the next level with dangerous obstacles, mechanical horses, 2 million dollars to win, and a girl who's willing to risk it all. I was kept in suspense the entire time. I definitely recommend this book!!!

Want a fast-paced, thrilling book? Want a collection of brave, kind, sarcastic and changing characters? Allow me to recommend Titans by Victoria Scott, where the mechanical horses are ready to run, and the jockies are prepared to risk their lives for two million dollars... This book was a page-turner, and besides, who doesn't like mechanical horses called Titans? I thought they were pretty amazing!

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite books, and I never was left unexcited while reading. I highly recommend this book for those 12 and older. It is so captivating as you learn about Lyla and join her on her adventure as she is forced to choose between good friends or the law.

Is this world a dystopia or utopia? Is the gang called the Red Fist killers or saviors? Is Lyla Northstrom a hero... or a villian? Marked is an interesting read about a young woman trying as hard as she can to get into a special university for the brightest students, but can she do it? Can she stay away from crime and follow her dream? I enjoyed the illustrations and all of the double-crossing and mystery!

The Big Rewind is a great dive into the big city where crime and secrets are swarming and bring to life a marvelous story. The relation to music and culture is fascinating to see in Cudmore's world of wonder. A book for more mature audiences but is worth it's time. I recomend reading this book.

The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch by Daniel Kraus

Robert, 17
Daniel Kraus
The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch
Simon & Schuster 2015

Zebulon Finch is an amazing story that intrigues the reader in every way. The grotesque and dark themes portrayed are amazingly well put together to bring the "Hero" that we see to experience every dark turn as he ventures through his life, starting in the 1879, to his death in 1896, all the way to 1941. Finch stands in the shadows of the hidden horrors left in the world to later being part of a world war, and seeming never to know what is next. A great book to read, but beware your senses might get the best of you. This book is not for the light-hearted and caresses a strong vocabulary to emphasize every detail that is explained. Over all an amazing story.

Strong language and gruesome details, not for younger readers.

The Rig
houghton mifflin harcourt 2015

The Rig was a fascinating book! Very fast paced and original. Will Drake, the protagonist, is an  instantly likable character. He's funny, sarcastic, and doesn't back away from a challenge. Paired up with a Tech Geek and a Red-Head, there's no prison that can hold him now. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed the 'Boy Nobody' series.

Also, the plot twist at the end was quite... explosive. Can't wait for a sequel :)

The book was awesome! The book was about a kid who has been put in jail for trying to help his mother survive. He has escaped even prison so far, so now they put him in "the rig" the most secure prison in the world. Short story: he escapes prison, falls in love, and then proceeds to expose the entire prison I system. Also mix some super powers in there and you have got yourself this awesome book.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: the The Sword of Summer
Hyperion 2015

Truly I can't imagine a better book than this. I stayed up countless nights reading and laughing so hard that my eyes watered. This book is a real page turner full of jokes, fantasy, and adventure. Magnus Chase and three friends travel the nine realms on a quest and are chased by giant man eating squirrels; fish for the giant world serpent; and play catch with giants, all with the antics of the Norse Gods, whom I will never see the same way again with Riordan's modern twist. Also, for all the Percy Jackson fans, you will see many similarities and hidden jokes.  Now that you know this book exists, get up, find this book, and read it.
