Alistair Grim's Odd Aquaticum by Gregory Funaro

Alistair Grim's Odd Aquaticum
Hyperion 2015

Alistair Grim's Odd Aquaticum was an amazing book! Even though "aquaticum" is a bit tricky to pronounce, this book was fantastic to read. It was a little slow in the beginning, but it grew more tense and thrilling with each page. I highly recommend this book to readers who miss their favourite fantasy characters!

Kill The Boy Band Goldy Moldavsky

Kill The Boy Band
Scholastic Inc. 2016

Kill The Boy Band is an interesting book, but  personally I did not enjoy it. In the beginning I was intrigued by the story, the kidnapping, and how the characters handled it, along  with all the jokes and relatable drama. However, as I read further, there was A LOT of cussing and many inappropriate scenes. In the end, there were betrayals and only one girl does the right thing. I found this book disappointing.

The Rosemary Spell by Virginia Zimmerman

Virginia Zimmerman
The Rosemary Spell
2015

This book would be very excellent for ages 10 to 12. The story line is well-written so that one thing leads to another. The plot is good, and exciting enough to keep the reader interested, and its references to Shakespeare give the story a bit of a "base" so that the plot doesn't fall apart. Overall this book was entertaining. I would recommend this book to young readers. but it can be enjoyed by anyone who does not feel it would be a waste of time. The characters had excellent personalities and the author made it so one could understand what drove Rosemary and Adam to make things right even if it meant breaking off a sprig of an herb plant.   The way the author used poetry to help the story along was a very neat idea. This book would be excellent for those interested in a little bit of mystery, spells, poetry, books and Shakespeare.  The Rosemary Spell is an easy read, and mentions phrases of Shakespeare from various plays such as Hamlet, and Richard II, as well as lines of poetry.   The cover looks great.

The End Of Fun

This was a very good book with a interesting plot that could reflect our type of society of the future. It has well thought out characters and good descriptive writing style. All in all, it was a good book that really made you keep turning the pages and kept me intrigued.

Sweet
Feiwel and Friends 2015

I thought this book was really good.  In it a boat load of celebrities go on a weight loose cruise. But half way into the cruise the people start going insane. Can they warn the main land before the product is mass produced?

I would like to have a copy of this book at the do of the year.

Sweet was an alright book but had room for improvement. It had a very predictable plot with little surprise except the end. It was suspenseful and had a lot of action but was mostly the same throughout the book. I liked it but don't think I would read it again.

Candlewick 2016

In  RED  INK  a  15  year  old  girl  whose
mother  has  just  died  is  having  a  hard  time.  Not  so  much  with  the  death  of  her  mother  but  with  all  the  normal  things.  The  annoying  girl  at  school,  losing  her  best  friend,  and  being  babysat  by  her  mothers  fiance.  This  book  was  written  in  a  way  that  was  hard  for  me  read  and  therefore  I  decided  to  stop  reading  early  on  in  the  book.

Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan

Tell the Wind and Fire
Clarion Books 2016

The compelling novel gives new life to the characteristics of a protagonist. In a future world of magic not even the heroine is quite certain of who is good or evil. With twist that will leave you guessing until the very end. The protagonist is a beautiful creation that I have not seen the likes of before

Far From Fair by Elena K. Arnold

Elena K. Arnold
Far From Fair
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt 2016

I would recommend this book to anyone who has felt like they shouldn't be allowed to feel something because someone else has it worse. The book shows how every problem can be overcome, but not always forgotten. The author really connects with the protagonist and shows deep emotion within her.

I think that the book gets a little bit repetitive at the beginning, but I really liked the ending.

Watch The Sky
Disney-Hyperion 2015

This book was very interesting and had a good flow and only dragged a bit in the beginning. The plot line was quite cool and kept me interested in what was happening in the story. It got suspenseful toward the end and had an wide array of characters with different personalities. All in all, I thought the book was pretty good and fun to read.
