In  Burning  Nation  by  Trent  Reedy  we  return  Daniel  Wrights  struggle  to  stay  alive  during  Idaho's  war  on  the  United  States.  As  Daniel  fights  on  with  the  Idaho  Guard  he  is  faced  with  many  hard  choices.  And  in  facing  these  challenges  he  knows  that  the  wrong  decision  could  lead  to  more  terrible  things  then  he  could  ever  imagine.      There  are  not  many  books  that  I  can  read  twice.  After  I  read  a  book  I'll  just  move  on  to  the  next  book.  But  Burning  Nation  is  one  that  I  could  over  and  over  again.

Backlash is a very relatable story of teen problems with Cyberbullying. It hooks you with the many perspectives of the characters and lures you into every chapter.I highly recommend this book to anyone looking on insight as to why some teens do what they do-giving you understanding as to why some teen problems (having to do with Cyberbulling) occur. Interesting and relatable.

Young World by Chris Weitz

Young World
Little, Brown and Company   2014

I have read way too many post-apocalyptic books that say the same thing, he loves her she loves him, blah, blah, blah; but this book is nothing like that.  There may be love but the whole book is not focused on it.  I love all the action in this book, it kept me on the edge of my toes from the pig, to the canabalism, to the polar bear in the art museum.  This book is very different and I loved it.  I hope there is a sequel

I have always been a fan of Greek mythology. This book puts a modern day aspect on the Greek gods. Twilight of the gods. Death of them all. While some do the best to keep their sanity, others have turned into horrid monsters. A real page turner. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in Greek mythology

Antigoddess was a book of amazing potential.  The Twilight of the gods, how brilliant.  This book as amazing, the death of all old gods to come.  The gods go on a mission to find the prophetess Cassandra of Troy in modern day and Odysseus.  I would recomend this book to everyone.  An amazingly good book.

Best of the Bistro

All teens are welcome to the Bistro Book Club. Teens who have belonged and submitted reviews are a very diverse bunch. Some are valedictorians and some are in the Department of Corrections. Some are in middle school, some are in high school, and some are autodidacts. Some are autistic and some are artistic.

The links to the following reviews can help you see what makes a good Bistro-style review. The Bistro Book Club rules are:

  • Never apologize for your reading tastes. (Rosenberg's First Law of Reading)
  • No two people ever read the same book. (Every book is a collaborative effort between the imaginations of the writer and the reader)
  • No one ever reads the same book twice. (Di read The Lord of the Rings seventeen times when she was seventeen. Each time she started it she was different than she had been before)
