Amber Appleton lives on a yellow school bus with her drunk mother. You'd expect her to be depressed. However, Amber befriends autistic children, visits Vietnam war vets, teaches Korean women english, and helps out at an elderly home. She calls her self "the princess of hope". But will she stay this way? I laughed AND cried. Although Quick sometimes tried too hard to sound like a teenager (frequent examples of "Word" "Sucka" and "Right?" covered the pages of this book), he still wrote a charming novel that cuts straight to the heart. I would definitely recommend this to all OLDER teens. Be prepared for an exciting read!
