Pink by Lili Wilkinson

Pink was an extremely fun novel to read. It's about a girl named Ava, who describes herself as "a quasi-goth emo lesbian". However, she is a very different girl on the inside. Her most secret dream is to have a BOYfriend, be involved in the school musical, and wear her pink argyle sweater every day. Wilkinson was a talented and witty writer. I laughed; I cried; I rolled my eyes at how ridiculous us teenagers can be at times. The characters were all very real (although all of the "J" names could be slightly confusing). I would definitely recommend this book to all older teen girls. It is a charming story about a girl who just wants to fit in. Be sure find a copy!
