Forbidden Sea was a good book, just not for me. It was a fantasy/romance novel portraying the feelings of a young girl struggling with a "fantasy" phantom mermaid and her family problems. Her father has died, taking her family down from high class to one of the poorest families on the island. The main character, Adrianne, starts to notice her appearance and the boys on the island taunt her about it she has had enough. To add to her problems Adrianne saw a legandary mermaid on a stormy night out at sea. She doesn't know if she is crazy or if the mermaid is real, after that encounter she hears the mermaid calling out to her from sea and everyone on the island thinks she is a demon for encountering the mermaid. This book was a good book but not for me because I like the more adventurous books while this one talked about the feelings of a young girl and her romance in the sea. This book would be great for any fantasy reader who also likes romance, and I think I would recommend this to a girl because it was a girl's point of view and just felt like a girl book. I would rate this book a 7.5 on a scale of 10 because of its abrupt ending and lack of twists. Other than a few minor details this book was a good read.
Rating: 4 Better than most
